Jake's Restaurant & Grill offers a grounded taste of Filipino comfort food right in the heart of Red Deer. This full-service Filipino restaurant is best known for its welcoming atmosphere, where the friendliness of the staff complements hearty, traditional dishes that feel like a homemade meal away from home.

The restaurant tends to attract both locals craving familiar flavors and travelers making a pit stop between Calgary and Edmonton. Its location on 50 Avenue makes it a convenient spot for those looking for something more substantial than fast food but still quick enough for a road trip break.

Inside, expect a straightforward, no-frills vibe where the focus is undoubtedly on the food and a homey dining experience. On busy days, it feels lively and casual, with a steady flow of customers chatting over plates piled with rich, flavorful dishes.

The menu features hearty Filipino staples like Beef Pares, Pancit, Bangsilog, and Halo Halo—a popular dessert here, notable for its finely shaved ice texture reminiscent of bingsoo, adding a refreshing finish after savory plates. Portions are generous enough to share, making it a good option for both solo diners and groups. Diners often highlight the dinuguan for its authentic seasoning, a mark of their kitchen’s adherence to traditional recipes.

This spot fits best for midday or early evening visits when you want a reliable, flavorful meal that feels like a pause in the day rather than a rushed grab-and-go. The staff’s polite and attentive nature adds to the welcoming, down-to-earth tone, making first-timers feel at ease even if they’re new to Filipino cuisine.

If you’re stopping by Red Deer and want to dive into a slice of Philippine culinary culture without venturing into downtown bustle, Jake’s Restaurant & Grill offers a solid, home-style dining experience with menu options that can satisfy cravings for both familiar and adventurous palates.

Lomi overload!!! We originally stopped at Let’s Tea Talk for some iskrambol, but then spotted a picture of lomi at the restaurant next door—and we couldn’t resist. A friendly lady welcomed us in, and right away it felt like home. We ordered the lomi and their BBQ lunch deal, and wow—so worth it! Definitely a great stop when driving between Calgary and Edmonton.

First time here. We saw a lot of social media post and wanted to try them as we’re waiting for our car to get fixed by Banauwe Auto. We were hesitant at first because of the price range but were surprised that the serving is good for 2! The dinuguan has the perfect blend and taste. Im picky with dinuguan as i tried many sellers around red deer and the “timpla” is far from what I grew up in. Love the dinuguan here! The bicol express was sooo good! Instead of the traditional small pork cuts, they serve it with a huge chunk and you can taste the bagoong. “Di tinipid”! Liempo marinate is also good! Very traditional marinate Will definitely go back. What a way to celebrate our 7 yrs anniversary lunch here. Very satisfied.

On our way back from Banff, we stopped at Red deer and I googled if there is a Filipino restaurant. This one showed up. We were happy with the taste and portions. Also the ice for their halo-halo is fine (almost like a bingsoo). We left satisfied.

I ordered panst last Friday, tasted good , the lady at the front was very polite even the cook, my only concern is the ingredients for original pansit, I think it will be more yummy without boiled eggs on top and mushrooms

Passing by Red Deer Alberta. Checked out this place. I ordered Lomi and was impressed by the quality and amount of ingredients. The flavour does remind you of Lomi in Batangas. Highly recommend to everyone inRed Deer and travellers passing by this place.

I was in the area for four days so I thought I’d try out all restaurants that appeared in the Google search for “inasal.” This for me, was the best. The portions were excellent—two chicken legs vs one that the other restaurants offer. The crispy spicy tofu was also awesome. The restaurant has a “mom & pops” feel to it. I loved it.
